Other positions are Trustee - 3 year and 2 year positions, Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation delegates and alternates and St Paul Regional Labor Federation delegates and alternates.

You must be a member in good standing for 12 full months prior to February 1, 2014 in order to be eligible to be nominated for an office. Good news for our pension - according to the January 2014 editions of the PERAgraph, the State Board of Investment reported that the year 2013 ended with an 11% growth in our PERA General Fund which covers us, PERA's Coordinated Plan members. That is very good news as it shows that the increase in our contribution, along with the increase in the Employer's contribution, is going to help this fund continue to grow. Since our pension has been under attack by many groups who feel we do not deserve to have a pension, this growth gives us ammunition to beat off their attacks. It shows that our plan can be healthy and will be there for us as we re-tire. Please stay informed so that you can refute the attacks that will be coming our way.

2014 - 2015 salary steps - our members who are not at the top of their respective pay scales will receive step in-crease at the time of their annual reviews again.

Quite a few of you have asked where those steps can be found - here is the link to that information:

We are Local 34 - Social Services Unit - FF. (You can also find the 2014 - 2015 con-tract at that link.) Please contact me if you have any questions about the salary steps.

Groundhog Day is February 2nd. Let's all hope that the groundhog does not see his shadow and that our winter comes to a close soon.
